Science Days festival to be held in Ust-Kut with INK’s support

On March 26-31, Ust-Kut will host the Science Days festival, with Irkutsk Oil Company (INK) as the prime sponsor. The program includes 30 events.

The main topics of the festival are Science, Space, City, and People. Open lectures, career advice sessions, quiz games, workshops, stars observation in the planetarium are among the festival activities. In addition, physics and astronomy teachers are welcome to attend upskilling sessions. The program and detailed information are available on the website.

The activities will be held in the Inter-Urban Library, community center “Rechniki”, youth initiatives center “BAM” and school No. 9. Some of the speakers to give talks at the festival are: president of the Council of Young Scientists of Medical and Pharmaceutical Higher Education and Research Institutions Elena Maslyonkova, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Science, associate professor of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI Egor Zadeba, Doctor of Chemistry, senior research scientist of the structural investigation laboratory of Irkutsk Chemistry Institute Irina Sterkhova, winner of the prize “For Commitment to Science” and editor of the website “Neuronews” Aleksey Payevsky.

The Science Days festival was held in Ust-Kut, Irkutsk and Angarsk in 2023. A total of 1,800 visitors attended popular scientific lectures, open discussions and talks of guest speakers. Employees of Irkutsk Polymer Plant spoke about oil, polymers and their role in everyday life. Some of the activities were dedicated to the issues of infrastructure development in Ust-Kut.

Irkutsk Oil Company (INK) is an independent Russian producer of raw hydrocarbons. The company incorporated in 2000 engages in geological study, exploration and development of 53 subsoil blocks in the Irkutsk Region, Krasnoyarsk Region and Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). In Ust-Kut, INK is implementing a project consisting of raw hydrocarbons production, treatment, transportation and processing facilities, a helium plant and Irkutsk Polymer Plant. The INK Group now counts around 17 thousand employees.
