The activities of the festival were held on March 19-21, offering visitors an opportunity to meet with experts in children’s reading, illustrators, and writers from St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, and Irkutsk.

Lectures, workshops, meet-the-artist sessions, exhibitions, adventure games, and a practical seminar for librarians were held in the Kirensky district as part of the Reading Day. In addition, experts provided feedback on the entries of participants of the local literature contest for schoolchildren “Literary Debut”, the final of which was held in the community center “Sovremennik”.

This year, the activities of the Reading Day in the Kirensky district were organized not only in town, but also in the local villages – for the first time. In February, participants had online courses developed by the reading festival team: schoolchildren created stories, graphic novels, cartoons, and drafted scenarios for the festival reading activities together with the professionals.

The Reading Day is a festival for children and adults held since 2018. Organizers are the Wilhelm Von Humboldt education center, Kukulya shop, and children’s writer Anna Maslennikova. INK supports the event as the main sponsor. The Reading Day project is mentioned in the national Education Atlas “100 projects dedicated to reading. Youth initiatives — 2018”, and in 2019 it was recognized as the best at the VI International Educators Forum held in Sochi. In 2023, it appeared on the long list of the professional skills competition “Revizor”.
