Irkutsk Oil Company has put the second highly automated drilling rig at the Bolshetirsky site into operation

The first drilling rig was put into operation at the end of May. The equipment was custom designed for the company so to allow the machinery to function in Eastern Siberia’s harsh conditions. Bentec signed a contract to deliver seven new Russian-made drilling rigs in 2019.

The third unit will soon be delivered to the site and is scheduled for commissioning in early August. The remaining four are now in production, and their delivery is expected in H1, 2022.

The new drilling rigs are distinguished by a high degree of automation with respect to their drilling capabilities. This improves the safety of operations, streamlines costs, saves time and improves the quality of well construction.

The acquisition of new rigs is part of the long-term development program of INK-Service, the drilling unit of INK Group. Among other benefits, it also significantly increases the commercial speed of drilling oil and gas wells.

Background:

INK-Service (the drilling unit of INK Group) signed a contract with Bentec (the Russian subsidiary of German Bentec GmbH based in Bad Bentheim, Germany) for the supply of seven fixed-echelon drilling rigs in 2019. The equipment will be manufactured at Bentec’s plant in Tyumen. The Industrial Development Fund provided part of the funding required to purchase three out of the seven rigs.

INK-Service staff undergo theoretical training at the training center of the Irkutsk National Research Technical University. Practical training is conducted in the field, directly at the rig, under the guidance of experienced mentors.
