Preparations for 7th International Baikal Risk Forum underway in Irkutsk Region
A kick-off meeting was held in the regional administration attended by the Irkutsk Region Governor Igor Kobzev, JSC “INK-Capital” General Director Marina Sedykh, ministers, and representatives of relevant departments of JSC “INK-Capital”.
The Baikal Risk Forum has evolved from a niche corporate event into a federal-level discussion platform, and became one of the emblematic regional events. Every year, leading Russian and foreign experts come to Irkutsk to promote the current agenda, exchange experience, study real cases of peer companies and present their own.
“In September 2022, we held the International Baikal Risk Forum led by INK-Capital bringing together government and business representatives, practitioner experts and scientists. The Forum laid the groundwork for future joint projects. Participants were able to sign agreements, connect with new partners and like-minded professionals. For instance, I signed an agreement for development of Ust-Kut town with the town and district mayors, representatives of Sberbank and JSC “INK-Capital”. I believe, this experience of partnership between the Government of the Irkutsk Region and INK-Capital was a success,” said the Governor of the Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev.
According to JSC “INK-Capital” General Director Ms. Sedykh, the forum hosts are going to carry on with their work started in 2022 towards building an expert community for sustainable development consisting of government and business representatives across Siberia and the Far East.
“BRIF-2022 was dedicated to the general agenda of sustainable development, and this year, we are going to focus on its major elements – industrial ecology and social partnership,” highlighted Ms. Sedykh. “Industrial ecology is a rather complex and costly matter, but it is critically important to pay due attention to it. Preserving biodiversity in the locations of large industrial operations is at stake, among other things. Through discussion of social partnership issues, companies will be able to exchange their experience.”
The meeting resolved to form the organizing committee for the 7th International Baikal Risk Forum before March 1, by which time it is also expected to prepare a draft program and appoint coordinators of the following sections: construction, environment, economics, health and education. It is planned to hold the BRIF in October 2023 in Irkutsk.
