A gas cycling facility, including a gas re-injection compressor plant, has successfully been put into operation at the Yarakta field. The facility was commissioned by AG Equipment Company, a US-based equipment manufacturer, and EnergoService Engineering Center, an installation contractor.

Over 100 specialists – engineers, equipment designers, technologists, and builders – attended the launching ceremony for the first project for gas re-injection with condensate production in Russia. All participants received commemorative pins and banners in recognition of their contribution to the facility’s construction. This is the first stage of the gas re-injection complex where processing capacity is 1 million cubic meters per day. The second stage calls for expansion of the facility with the capacity to process over 6 million cubic meters a day.

The facility also includes a four-turbine power generation plant with an installed capacity of 2.5 MW per turbine. It could be expanded to 16 MW output going forward. This INK project is unique: associated and non-associated gas re-injection was not practiced in Russia on an industrial scale until recently. Project implementation will allow maintenance of formation pressure while increasing the condensate recovery ratio by up to 22%.

The gas re-injection project will have a significant environmental impact: associated gas flaring at oil fields will be reduced.

INK would like to thank European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Baikal Bank of Savings Bank of the Russian Federation (Sberbank) for arranging project financing for this facility.
