Construction of ‘Danilovsky-Yaraktinsky’ pipeline is approved by residents of Katangsky district
Residents of Katangsky District approved the construction of a pipeline which will connect the Danilovsky and Yaraktinsky fields in the course of public consultations which were held on April 25, 2011 in the city of Erbogachen.
These public consultations focused on environmental issues, but discussions showed that residents were also interested in various economic issues such as employment and support of north indigenous people of the Katangsky district involved in hunting and fishing. Representatives of local municipalities, school districts, police and other public sectors made various comments during the consultations.
Representatives of Irkutsk Oil Company took notes for 14 comments and suggestions during the 2-hour discussion and assured that they would be carefully studied and considered to be incorporated in the final draft of project.
Pipeline PMTP-150 has a small diameter of 150 mm and should not prevent animals from passing it over. It will be laid along the regular winter road and therefore will require minor forest clearing. When river crossing is required the pipe-in-pipe technology will be adopted and construction will not take place during the spawning period to protect the fish habitat.
The cnstruction of a 223 km pipeline is to start in the middle of 2011 and will include 6 pumping stations. With pipeline throughput capacity of 260,000 tpy (5,200 bpd), year-round production from Danilovsky field will become possible.
