The company’s representative has participated in the 2014 Winter Olympics torch relay
Irkutsk Oil’s Mr. Grigoriy Ivanov became one of the 227 torchbearers who participated on November 27th, 2013 in the relay in Irkutsk. He ran across a road that passed over the Irkutsk main dam. On the total, the participants bore the torch that day for 34 km and the day culminated with a big concert.
“It was so excited, I just wish there was a bigger distance to carry it on”, said Grigoriy Ivanov, Chief Engineer, while sharing his experience with his colleagues.
In Russia the relay will travel from Moscow to Sochi through over 2,900 towns and villages across all 83 regions of Russia. It will traverse the land by foot, car, train, plane, and “troika” to complete 65,000 km of journey, making it the longest in Winter Olympics history.
Irkutsk Oil Company pays a lot of attention to promoting the sporting events within the company. In 2013 employees participated in the company-wide sport competition at Yaraktinsky field. At the same time, the stadium and sport facilities were opened at the Yaraktinsky.
The employees of the Company also participated in the All-Russian volleyball industry-wide competition (backed by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation) and took the second place. Mr. Aleksey Bulgakov from INK was named the best player in the tournament and Mr. Artem Panov – the best attacker (spiker).
