Reading Day to be held in Irkutsk and Kirensky district with INK’s support

The Reading Day event will be held in Irkutsk and the Kirensky district on March 19-23 with Irkutsk Oil Company (INK) as the main sponsor.

In Kirensk, the event will be held for the third time. Guests will meet with a family psychologist, author of young adult books Ekaterina Murashova (based in St. Petersburg), and an artist, map maker Katya Guschina (based in Nizhny Novgorod).

The program includes lectures and workshops to be held on March 19-21 in the Inter-Urban Library of the Kirensky district and the community center “Sovremennik.”

“This time, the Reading Day will not only take place in the town, but will also reach the Kirensky district, Makarovo and Krivoshapkino villages, where local communities are looking forward to meeting with the organizers and speakers of the event,” said Director of the Inter-Urban Library of the Kirensky district Oksana Unzhakova.

As for Irkutsk, the speakers of the Reading Day will hold sessions for children and their parents on March  19-23 in the U. Samsonov Central Children’s Library, the modern art center “Ogon”, and the exhibition center “Galereya Revolyutsiya”. A detailed program is available here.

Entrance to all activities is free. Prior registration is required for the meetings to be held in Irkutsk.

The Reading Day is a festival for children and adults held since 2018. Organizers are the Wilhelm Von Humboldt education center, Kukulya shop and children’s writer Anna Maslennikova. The Reading Day project is mentioned in the national Education Atlas “100 projects dedicated to reading. Youth initiatives — 2018”, and in 2019 it was recognized as the best at the VI International Educators Forum held in Sochi. In 2023, it appeared on the long list of the professional skills competition “Revizor”.
