This year, the activities will be dedicated to The Year of Family in Russia, the 50th anniversary of the Baikal-Amur Railway (BAM), the 70th anniversary of Ust-Kut as a municipality, and the 10th anniversary of the cultural project itself. The geography of the project totals 14 locations, including Irkutsk, Kachug, Erbogachyon, Kazachinskoye and Anga settlements, the Danilovsky and Yaraktinsky fields, the settlements of Verkhnemarkovo, Niya, Zvezdny and Korshunovsky, the Irkutsk Polymer Plant, Zheleznogorsk-Ilimsky, and Ust-Kut.
The guest celebrities of the program include actors Alexey Barabash, Olga Khokhlova, Alesa Kacher, and Alexandr Peskov. This year, visitors will be offered a theater piece called “Ranevskaya, the Lonely Mocker” as well as artistic sessions dedicated to the anniversary of the BAM. Some other activities of the project are mobile exhibitions, workshops for children and adults, retrospectives of Soviet movies themed around the BAM.
The highlight of the project – a children’s movie festival “KinoKhorovod. Heroes of the BAM” – will be hosted by Ust-Kut on June 27 – July 7. Children of the local communities will take part in the shooting of 12 short movies together with the “troopers” team and actors.
“The Northern Troopers” is a unique project. Residents of the Irkutsk Region, especially of its northern areas, are really looking forward to it. People living there are not spoilt for choice in terms of cultural events. It is a real treat for them. And I wish such out-of-the-ordinary events were more frequent! That is why I support “The Northern Troopers”,” said Ms. Sedykh, JSC INK-Capital General Director, founder of the Charity Fund, and chairperson of the children’s movie festival “KinoKhorovod”.
“The Northern Troopers” cultural project includes concerts, performances, and workshops of famous actors, which take place in towns and settlements of the north of the Irkutsk Region and in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Over 10 years, 30 famous actors have participated, visiting 27 towns and settlements; around 250 activities have been organized, attracting some 75 thousand visitors.
