INK Entered into a Cooperation Agreement with the All-Russian Society for Nature Conservation

Irkutsk Oil Company signed a cooperation agreement with the Irkutsk branch of the AllRussian Public Organization: All-Russian Society for Nature Conservation.

The parties agreed to work together on projects aimed at increasing the level of environmental education and raising awareness for ecological issues in Irkutsk region.

“Irkutsk Oil Company was among the first to adhere to the principles of sustainable development, long before ESG became a global trend. Cooperation with the All Russian Society for Nature Conservation has also been a long tradition for INK. Now we will strengthen our interaction to support and implement socially significant initiatives in the region," said Yevgeniy Milov, Managing Director for Legal Work and Regional Policy, and a Board Director.

The cooperation includes the implementation of sustainable development ideas and principles, the formation and fulfillment of the environmental education project: ‘ECO-generation: ecology-culture-education,’ support for youth and volunteer initiatives, promotion of healthy lifestyles, participation in reforestation, preservation of water bodies, and natural monuments and attractions in the Irkutsk region. INK will provide financial support for the events, as well as assistance in their implementation and staging.

An integral part of the work to achieve the goals of sustainable development in INK is caring for nature, ensuring the prevention of environmental risks, and reducing the level of negative impact on the ecological environment. In 2009, INK became the first company in Russia to re-inject associated gas into the reservoir, also it’s own technology for disposal of drilling cuttings into technical soil was created.

INK's practices also include careful use of territories of indigenous peoples, improved waste management systems (more than 90% of waste is sent for neutralization and recycling), and biodiversity conservation efforts. In particular, in 2021 the company carried out reforestation and mass release of young grayling - 400 thousand fry into the Lena River.

Irkutsk Oil Company (INK) is one of the largest independent producers of hydrocarbons in Russia. The company was established in 2000 and is engaged in prospecting, exploration and development of 52 license blocks in Irkutsk region, Krasnoyarsk region and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). INK's largest investment project is the gas chemical cluster, which INK is implementing in Ust-Kut. It includes gas production, treatment, transportation, and processing facilities, two helium plants, and Irkutsk Polymer Plant. At present, the number of employees of the group of companies has exceeded 11 thousand people.
