INK Group is one of the leaders of the first national ESG rating
October 24, 2022
The first national ESG ranking put JSC INK-Capital among the leading 35 Russian companies. The participants’ ESG profiles – environmental, social, and governance activities – were assessed by experts.
A total of 115 companies were ranked. They were tiered into three categories on the basis of credited scores: middle level of compliance with environmental, social, and governance standards; upper-middle level; high level.
INK Group’s level of compliance with ESG standards was assessed as high. To take one example of its ESG activities, the Irkutsk Oil Company allocated more than 650 mln RUB for environmental protection purposes and around 150 mln RUB – for biodiversity preservation over the two reporting years.
The group of 35 leaders also includes Gazprom, Sberbank, MTS, NLMK, Metalloinvest, Tinkoff Bank, Severstal, EVRAZ, and others.
“Sustainable development is one of the most pressing issues for humanity, for preserving the civilization”, JSC INK-Capital General Director Marina Sedykh said. “Our company incorporates the ESG agenda using a structural approach, through the integrated management system that provides guidance in setting strategic goals and objectives. We actually started to manage this topic long ago, and it was not in response to regulatory requirements but because we saw no other way for ourselves, just like we do not see it now. I am glad that INK-Capital was ranked high on the first ESG rating of the country. The success was made possible by our team, and it is an incentive to keep moving. IKN Group has a long and challenging way to go, developing its own climate strategy, biodiversity preservation programs, and refining the process safety management system. I am convinced that we will accomplish these ambitious objectives.”
