Special equipment for a bison farm was purchased in Yakutia with the support of Sakhaneft LLC. The forest bison reintroduction project has been implemented in the republic since 2024.

A snowmobile, quad bike, and tractor have been transferred to the Directorate of Biological Resources, Specially Protected Natural Areas, and Natural Parks of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). In addition, Sakhaneft assumed the costs of operating and maintaining bison farms, transporting young bison from nurseries, and providing feed.

Earlier, as part of the project supported by the company, the Namana monitoring and protection station for rare animal species was built in the Olekminsky District. The first bison calves were delivered to the station from the Tympynai nursery in the Gorny District in March 2025. The transportation and release of young animals from nurseries will be an annual event. In August, the company plans to build another base in the Naacha area of the Gorny District.

As a reminder, the project Reintroduction of the forest bison in Central Yakutia was launched last year. The program was initiated by the Ministry of Ecology, Nature Management, and Forestry of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and is being implemented by the Directorate of Biological Resources, Specially Protected Natural Areas, and Natural Parks of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The project aims to increase the population of bison listed on the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

The company pays special attention to environmental protection issues in the regions where it operates. Environmental initiatives are being successfully implemented in the Mirninsky District, including campaigns to collect waste paper and plastic, aimed at reducing waste volumes and promoting separate collection. In addition, in order to preserve biodiversity, Sakhaneft annually releases fry into the Vilyui Reservoir.
