Irkutsk Polymer Plant (a project of Irkutsk Oil Company) produced the first polyethylene pellets from delivered externally feedstock during commissioning works.

The trials successfully tested key process systems including the extruder, recycle gas compressor and circulation gas compressor required for the polymerization process.

The use of delivered feedstock at this stage made it possible to assess the efficiency of the process chain and confirm its readiness to accept its own feedstock at the polyethylene plant.

- Production of the first pellets was the result of well-coordinated work of all departments of the plant - electricians, engineers, specialists of mechanical service, operating unit, builders, personnel responsible for commissioning works. Successful testing of the equipment confirms high readiness of the personnel to start commercial operation, - said Alexander Lazarev, Head of Polyethylene Production at Irkutsk Polymer Plant.

The plant is scheduled to be launched in the first half of 2025.

Irkutsk Polymer Plant is the first plant in Eastern Siberia to produce polymers from its own feedstock - ethane. Polyethylene produced at the Irkutsk Polymer Plant can be used in various industries, including automotive, medicine, consumer goods, etc.
