For installation of the column, two cranes were used with lifting capacities of 1,600 and 750 tons respectively.

Equipment transport, preparatory works and the column installation in the design position took about 5 hours. More than 30 employees were involved in the installation works.

The successful installation of the first equipment unit as well as the following long-term installation period were preceded by a large amount of preparatory work performed both by employees of the Irkutsk Polymer Plant and its contractors. The following works were performed at the site: preparation of foundations, construction of access roads for transportation of oversized equipment to installation points and construction of crane sites.

The delivery of the 45 equipment units from a South Korean port to Ust-Kut was completed in September of the past year. The total weight of the process equipment is 4,500 tons. The equipment installation will be underway until September 2021.

The construction of the polymer plant is performed by Irkutsk Oil Company in Ust-Kut as a part of development of gas-chemical cluster comprising gas production, treatment, transportation and processing facilities.

Irkutsk Polymer Plant would be the first plant in Eastern Siberia producing polymers from ethane as a feedstock. The annual production capacity of the plant would be 650 thousand tons of different grades of polyethylene. Polymers are used in automobile and aircraft manufacturing, the space industry, the production of medicine and the consumer goods industry. Irkutsk Polymer Plant will be on a par with the most modern plants across the world.A total of 1,500 new jobs will be created.
