During celebration of the 85th Anniversary of the All Russia Association of the Blind on April 12, 2010, Marina Sedykh, Chief Executive Officer of Irkutsk Oil Company, was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Irkutsk Regional Government. Alexander Moiseev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Irkutsk Region, presented the award.
Irkutsk Oil Company and the All Russia Association of the Blind have been working together for five years now. Thanks to INK, all regional offices of the All Russia Association of the Blind have been equipped with computers and material, and the technical infrastructure at the study center for the visually handicapped was upgraded. In 2006, the company signed a three-year agreement with the All Russia Association of the Blind for a step-by-step transfer of 900,000 rubles (approx. $30,000) for dedicated rehabilitation-of-the-blind programs. In 2010, the agreement was extended on the same terms and conditions for three more years.
As mentioned by Galina Katruk, Chairman of the All Russia Association of the Blind, the handicapped applied to the Government for this award in connection with the 85th Anniversary of the All Russian Association of the Blind for regular help in protection of the rights of the visually handicapped. The Irkutsk government and the Irkutsk Region Ministry of Social Development supported this initiative.
