The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Sustainability awards 2012 took place on 17-20 of May during EBRD’s Annual Meeting and Business Forum in London. EBRD promotes environmental and social sustainability through investments in projects, financial intermediaries and technical cooperation programs. But unlike most international financial institutions, the Bank reports on the impact of these investments as well as recognizing its clients’ progress in promoting environmental and social responsibility.
Bank employees discussed the results of a number of companies-nominees. The jury consisted of international experts of the financial, oil and gas sectors. Irkutsk Oil Company became one of the winners in the category for "Excellence in Environmental and Social Performance". The jury particularly noted the Company’s work on gas re-injection and social partnerships with the Russian government and community organizations.
According to Alistair Clark, Managing Director of Environment and Sustainability, judges were unanimous in their decision because the Company has been demonstrating dynamic and sustainable growth over a long period of time.
This is was not the first time EBRD recognized outstanding job of the Company personnel. In 2009 Mrs. Marina Sedyh, the Company’s CEO was awarded the prestigious "Woman in Business" prize in the industry category.
